Samsung Captivate/ Vibrant Hack
So while working in the cell phone department at a local Wal-Mart some customers where asking for how to’s on rooting the new Vibrant or Captivate that they just dropped $148 for and Finally Here It is.The purpose of this hack it to set that Android free, allowing us to have root(administrator) access and install some fun software and do things AT&T don’t like us doing, whether that be tethering or using it as a wireless hacking platform. Depending on what phone you have is going to change the steps taken to break it out of prison.
If you have the Samsung Vibrant Follow the directions below.
1. Download the attached zip and rename to: update.zip
2. On your device, navigate to Settings > Applications > USB settings and select Mass storage
3. Plug your device into your computer, select mount USB from your device’s pull-down window
4. Copy the update.zip to the INTERNAL SD memory (~14gb on this drive, not the one w/ Avatar if you’ve still got the 2gb SD card in)
5. Turn your phone off.
6. Hold down volume up and volume down while powering on the phone, this should get you to a recovery menu, you may have to try this a few times.
7. In Recovery menu select ‘Reinstall Packages’ (use vol_down then power to select)
With the Samsung Captivate there is a bit more to it.
1) You may need Samsung drivers if you are on a PC, which you can learn about here:ADB Drivers at the Unlockr

Don’t proceed until your phone is fully installed on Windows with the drivers!2) Download the attached zip and rename it to update or update.zip if you are on a Mac. Scroll down the notification bar and click “mount” to allow your computer to read the internal memory. Put the file on the INTERNAL SD card of the Captivate, which won’t be tough to figure out if you don’t have an SD card in the phone.
3) This step requires the Android SDK, and Android Debugging enabled. You can get the SDK here: Android SDK. Just download the zip, extract it to something like C:\Android. You won’t need the Java dev pack or anything.
You can enable Android Debugging like this: From the homescreen, press Menu, then click Settings. Navigate to Applications>Development and check USB Debugging. Now, hook the phone to the computer. Next,
On a PC, click start>run>”cmd” (in the text box) or on a Mac, spotlight “Terminal”. Linux users, you know what to do.
The command you will use is in the tools folder of wherever you extracted it to (IE: C:\android\tools), so be sure your working directory of command prompt is in that tools location!
Finally, type:Code:
adb reboot recovery4) Once the phone is booted into recovery, use the volume keys on the phone to scroll to “Reinstall packages.” Use power to select what you have highlighted.
5) Give yourself a pat on the back. You are now rooted. You should see a Superuser application now.
iPhone OS 4.0, Jewel or Brick?
With the release of the newest software update for the iPhone 3G, 3GS, and 4.o series, I thought it appropriate to give my personal experiences, review and opinion regarding the ease of use, new features and what was ignored by Apple.
The first point I will make will be about the multitasking on the 3GS and 4.0. The feature is well designed and very easy to use. In my opinion the battery life doesn’t suffer even with the additional applications running in the background. It really is a shame that the 3G is unable to use this feature. This is the main reason I traded in my 3G for a 3GS.
The folder function is another of my favorites from the update. I am a very picky person about which app is placed on my home screen. With the folders I am able to have every application that I ever use throughout the day all on one screen(13-15 apps).
The home screen wallpaper I feel should have been there with the launch of the phones. This is a little late in the game to let users finally customize their phone, which leads my to my next point.
TEXT RINGTONE. Come on Apple, doesn’t just about every other phone on the market able to select your downloaded/purchased ringtones for your text tone? Why cant we with the iPhone? Seriously what will it hurt?
My next topic worth mentioning is iPhone 3G specific. When updating to iOS 4 from 3.1.3 my 8GB 3G seemed to lag badly, and respond slowly. When viewing/responding to a text message there is a good 20 second wait to actually see all my text messages and a second 5-7 second wait for the keyboard to pop up.
If you have a 3G expect some lag, other than that I do believe this update was necessary and useful, however I also feel this should have been implemented a while back.

Motorola Droid 2.0.1 Root Hack

The process to root the Motorola Droid is pretty simple. However, one word of caution though. Rooting the Motorola Droid may void the warranty, and can potentially brick the Droid device if not done correctly. For people who decides to root the Droid, here’s a brief guide on procedure to root the Droid, as outlined by Zinx Verituse.
Note: The hack below won’t update the Droid to Android version 2.0.1. User who wants to have a rooted 2.0.1 should update to version 2.0.1 prior to follow below procedure, either by update via OTA (over the air) push or manually upgrade to Android 2.0.1 on Droid by downloading signed-voles-ESD56-from-ESD20.84263456.zip and save as update.zip, then copy it to SD card of Droid to update it in recovery options which similar to steps below. The hack, however, does work on Droid device with both Android v2.0 and v2.0.1.
- Download the exploit ZIP file: droid-super_user.zip
The exploit ZIP already include superuser from CyanogenMod to combine with initial exploit that provides a /system/bin/su from AOSP, allowing user to use root from adb shell). The MD5 for the ZIP is cf653352967253e99d967498ffd9ce69.
- Rename the downloaded ZIP file to update.zip.
- Follow one of the two method below to copy update.zip to the Motorola Droid phone:
Method 1: Plug the Droid into computer via USB. On the Droid go to the Notifications bar, select USB Connected, and then press Mount. Once the device is mounted, the SD memory card will be shown as a removable device on computer. Copy the update.zip into the root (top) directory/folder of the SD card. Unmount the device when copying operation is done, and turn the Droid off.
Method 2: Turn the Droid off, then pull the microSD card from the phone. Insert the microSD card into a card reader, and then copy theupdate.zip to its root folder. Put back the microSD card into the phone.
- Boot the phone into recovery mode by pressing and holding down the Xkey on the physical keyboard and the Power, until the Droid screen display a exclamation mark (!) in triangle.
- Apply the update by pressing Volume Up and Camera button, and then select the option (with D-pad on the physical keyboard) to update with update.zip file.
- Once updating is done, select the option to reboot the phone.
Once hacked, the Motorola Droid user now have root access and su on the OS 2.0.1 update.

Sn0wbreeze 3.1.3 has been released which can jailbreak iPhone 2G, 3G and iPhone 3GS on the latest iPhone 3.1.3 firmware. One thing which is to be noted here is that it will work with iPhone 3GS only if it has the older bootrom (non-MC model). iPhone 3GS users who have upgraded to the stock 3.1.3 are still out of luck.
Follow the simple step by step guide below to jailbreak your iPhone 2G, 3G and iPhone 3GS (old bootrom only) on iPhone firmware 3.1.3 using Sn0wbreeze. Trinity Rescue Kit (TRK)
Trinity Rescue Kit or TRK is a free live Linux distribution that aims specifically at recovery and repair operations on Windows machines, but is equally usable for Linux recovery issues.
It is possible to boot TRK in three different ways:
-as a bootable CD which you can burn yourself from a downloadable isofile
-from a USB stick/disk (optionally also a fixed disk), installable from Windows or from the bootable TRK cd
-from network over PXE, which requires some modifications on your local network (version 3.2). Version 3.3 has the ability to act as a network bootserver itself, without any modifications to your local network.

This is a guide for those of you who are thinking about jailbreaking your Iphones, but aren’t really sure what it truly means, and We will go over the Pro’s and Cons. The appeal of the jailbreak is relatively strong due to the features it adds, like jumping to a different network live T-mobile, Verizon Wireless, or any others, but you need to know that jumping to different networks other than AT&T is not Completely reversible, due to changes it makes to the phone’s modem software.

Updating your phone can break jailbreaks, meaning if you have a jailbroken phone and update to the next release its possible for the update to undo the initial jailbreaks and all those themes,and modifications you made will be gone.
Instability Issues- Every operating system, phone or computer based, is prone to crashing. With the jailbreak, you are actually installing “aftermarket” modifications to the phone OS, so there might be a little more crashing than a non jailbroken phone.
Security- Jailbreaking may open up root file system access, if you dont change your password for this file system a remote attacker may be able to gain access to your phone, and retrieve data off it, as well as gain entry to other computers or devices on the networks you frequent.
In the end you are taking a gamble when you modify anything and it will have downsides, My personal phone has been jailbroken for a few months and i have not experienced any issues with it, and I will update this article with the report any issues from 3G or 3GS that I have broken. So far so good.

When the government borrows money from the Fed or when person borrows money from a bank, it almost always has to be paid back with accrued interest. In other words, almost every single dollar that exists must be eventually returned to a bank, with interest paid as well. But, if all money is borrowed from the central bank and is expanded by the commercial banks through loans, only what would be referred to as the ‘principle’ is being created in the money supply…. So then, where is the money to cover all of the interest that is charged?
Nowhere. It doesn’t exist. The ramifications of this are staggering, for the amount of money owed back to the banks will always exceed the amount of money that is available in circulation. This is why Inflation is a constant in the economy, for new money is always needed to help cover the perpetual deficit built into the system, caused by the
the need to pay the interest.What this also means is that mathematically, defaults and bankruptcy are literally built into the system. And there will always be poor pockets of society that get the short end of the stick. An analogy would be a game of musical chairs, for once the music stops someone is left out to dry.
And that’s the point. It invariably transfers true wealth from the individual to the banks, for if you are unable to pay for your mortgage, they will take your property. This is particularly enraging when you realize that not only is such a default inevitable due to the fractional reserve practice, but also because of the fact that the money that the bank loaned to you didn’t even legally exist in the first place.
In the 1969, there was a Minnesota court case involving a man named Jerome Daly, who was challenging the foreclosure of his home by the bank, which provided the loan to purchase it. His argument was that the mortgage contract required both parties, being he and the bank, each put up a legitimate form of property for the exchange. In legal language, this is called “consideration”.(Consideration: -a contract`s basis. A contract is founded on an exchange of one form of consideration for another.)
Mr. Daly explained that the money was, in fact, not the property of the bank, for it was created out of nothing as soon as the loan agreement was signed.
Remember what modern money mechanics stated about loans: “what they do when they make loans is to accept promissory notes in exchange for credits…Reserves are unchanged by the loan transactions. But deposit credits constitute new additions to the total deposits of the banking system.” In other words, the money doesn’t come out of any of their existing assets. The bank is simply inventing it, putting up nothing of its own except for a theoretical liability on paper.As the court case progressed, the banks president, Mr. Morgan, took the stand, and in the judge’s personal memorandum, he recalled that “The Plaintiff (bank’s president) admitted that it, in combination with the Federal Reserve Bank…did create the…money and credit upon its books by bookkeeping entry…the money and credit first came into existence when they created it…Mr. Morgan admitted that no United States law or statute existed which gave him the right to do this…a lawful consideration must exist and be tendered to support the note.” “The jury found that there was no lawful consideration and I agree” He also poetically added, ” Only God can create something of value out of nothing”
And upon that revelation, the court rejected the bank’s claim for foreclosure and Daly kept his home. The implications of this court decision are immense, for every time you borrow money from a bank, whether it is a mortgage loan or a credit card charge, the money given to you is not only counterfeit, it is an illegitimate form of consideration and hence voids the contract to repay… for the bank never had the money as property to begin with.
